Be Still and Know…

Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

Have you ever taken a minute to just get still and listen?

You can do this anywhere, but I like to roll down my windows in a parking lot while running errands or take a second when I walk to the mailbox to just stop and extend my hearing as far as it will go.  Listen to all the sounds you miss in the rush of the day.  Are people laughing? Can you hear birds or friendly greetings?  Babies squealing, dogs barking, sounds of life noise around you that remind you you’re not alone in this world.

Even in the midst of ugliness and hatred, there are signs all around us that God is present and He is still holding things together.

Colossians 1:15-20 (ESV)
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.  For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

I invite you to be still and listen today.
